ABOUT THE FESTIVAL


The Cannes International Aesthetic Film Festival is an event within the event. It is meant to broadcast and reward the best aesthetic medical films. All films related to aesthetic procedure surgery can enter the competition. 4 film categories :

  • Aesthetic medicine
  • Aesthetic surgery
  • Industry
  • Humanitarian efforts


Screening of the best movies will be opened to a large audience.

Awards will be presented during the Gala dinner.

EDITION 2012


"The 1st Cannes International Aesthetic Film Festival took place on 2 & 3 November 2012 simultanously to the F.A.C.E. 2 F@ce Congress."

This event in the event was a success showing more than 40 films. At all, 6 films were rewarded with an artwork made by HEMCE.

3 practitioners received an award : Ms. Elena ZHUKOVSKAYA, Mr. Jules MARTHAN, Mr. Javier BEUT.

3 representatives from the industry were rewarded : LPG, TEOXANE, FILORGA.


Many delegates are already looking forward to the next edition.

As a whole 20 films were submitted in two categories : films from the practitioners and films from the industry.

The Foremen of the Jury are Jean-Luc Breitenstein, Producer and Director and Alain Fogli, Plastic Surgeon. Delegates will be able to see and vote for the films.

 

During the Gala Dinner the 3 best films in each category will be rewarded with Statuettes made by Design Plexi, HEMCE.
Christian Estrosi, Former Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Nice, Chairman of Nice Côte d'Azur City Government.

  • CONDITIONS ↓
  • Only films that meet the following conditions may be chosen for invitation to the Official CIAFF Selection:

    • Films that have not been shown on the Internet.
    • Films that do not exceed 15 minutes in length, including credits.

    For every person in the film, the submitter must be able to produce each person's agreement to use their image in the film.

    The film must not give any personal details about the patients (name, address, ...).


  • FILM DURATION ↓
  • In order to be selected in the competition, your film must be less than 15 minutes long (including credits).

  • DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION AND FOR RECEPTION ↓
  • 5 September 2013.

  • CATEGORIES ↓
  • The CIAF Festival only allows submission from:

    • Aesthetic medecine
    • Aesthetic surgery
    • Industry
    • Humanitarian efforts

    The submitter will be able to choose one of the following topics:

    • Rhynoplasty
    • Periocular Rejuvenation
    • Facial Rejuvenation
    • Cosmetic medecine (Fillers, neurotoxins, lasers)
    • Aesthetic reconstructive facial Surgery
    • Patient Safety & Complications

    Commercial video footages – videos deemed “commercial”, will be selected under the "Industry" category.


  • ASSESSMENT CRITERIA ↓
  • The Festival Presidents will lay stress on various assessment criteria such as:

    • Surgical and/or Medical Performance
    • Audiovisual and/or Technical Performance
    • Educational Aspects

  • MATERIAL ↓
  • Whatever equipment is used for shooting the film (mini DV, super 8, ...), only the following will be accepted for the preselection:

    • Blu-ray Disc + 1 standard DVD (if you send a Blu-ray you must also send us a standard DVD of the film).
    • DVD (Standard)
    • FTP upload of a the film in a .mp4, .mov or .avi format (Codec H264).

    Any film sent in other formats (mini DV, Beta, ...) will not be viewed.


  • VIDEO EDITING ↓
  • For PCs, you can use the following softwares: Studio 12, from Pinnacle Systems, or Adobe Premiere.

    For Mac, you can use iMovie, Final Cut Pro/ Final Cut Studio, Adobe Premiere.


  • SUBTITLING ↓
  • The Selection Committee will accept to screen a film:

    • WITHOUT subtitles IF the original language is English. The video must be well-edited and narrated.
    • WITH English subtitles for all other original languages.

  • SHIPPING OR UPLOADING ↓
  • You may first enter the competition online by filling the entry form (link at the bottom this page). After submitting your form, you'll receive a confirmation with a reference. The file's name must be this reference.

    You can send your film by postal mail or upload it on a FTP address.

    Shipping

    The print is admitted into France under the customs control of temporary admittance. All transportation costs, as well as the shipping agent's fee and insurance are entirely borne by the sender. It is recommended to contact the shipping agent directly before dispatching the film, in order to enquire about pricing and to ensure that the whole operation runs smoothly.

    The materials must be sent by mail, directly to the CIAFF administrative office (please find the address at the bottom of this page). If they are sent through an express parcel service it should read "For cultural purpose only" and "Without commercial value" on the package.

    For any materials sent by an express parcel service, payment for delivery must have been made in full, including any duty and taxes. Otherwise, the CIAFF reserves the right not to accept the package.

    It is also possible to make delivery in person or by courier. (Office hours: Monday to Friday 9AM to 6PM)

    FTP Uploading

    The video file must be uploaded to the following address, using a FTP software filezilla

  • RETURN ↓
  • Following the screening, the different materials received are not returned to the sender by the Festival.

    (Note however that materials may be picked up directly from the Festival offices any time but the entire month of November.)


  • IF YOUR FILM IS SELECTED ↓
  • You accept the film may be used for the promotion and the organization of the festival.

    The CIAFF Administrative Office will give you all the necessary information on time, only if your film is selected.
